HELLO & WELCOME!

I come to counselling through a long history of employment in the helping professions (i.e healthcare and social work) and my own personal experiences of healing trauma and patterns that no longer serve me. Compassion, curiosity, and humour have been invaluable to my own experiences of self-discovery, motherhood, and overcoming life's challenges and I carry these with me into my work with clients. I believe strongly that our relationships, with ourselves and with others, are powerful vehicles for healing. It is an honour to offer clients a trusting therapeutic relationship, an empathetic space from which they can safely explore and deepen their connection to self and move toward healing and wellness.

MY APPROACH

I use a holistic lens to address client concerns, recognizing that every individual exists at a unique intersection of contexts and identities (such as cultural, historical, familial, racial, sexual, gender, ability, economic, etc.) that shape our experiences and how we perceive the world. Acknowledging this diversity, I see each client as the expert in their own life and healing. I believe that each of us has a natural capacity for healing, and I work with my clients to enhance their self-understanding and compassion, uncover their personal strengths and sources of healing, and achieve their own goals for health and wellbeing.I take a trauma-informed, integrative, and relational approach to therapy, viewing challenges through the lenses of attachment and systems theory. My style is warm, empathetic, and non-judgemental, and I collaborate with clients to build a relationship based on mutual trust. I am attentive to the specific needs and preferences of each individual, integrating therapeutic techniques from various evidence-based modalities, including emotion-focused, somatic, mindful self-compassion, and cognitive behavioural therapies. I hold a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and a Bachelor of Midwifery from the University of British Columbia.
